World of Literacy is a skill-building reading comprehension program. Purple Level passages are geared towards American 7^th graders (Israeli based native speakers 9^th graders). The units cover a wide range of engaging topics, including Anne Frank and the Diary that Lives On; Airplane Wings: How Do They Work and Exercise: Let’s Get Moving!

Each lesson contains questions that are carefully constructed and include both closed-ended questions  and open-ended questions that encourage both written expression and critical thinking skills. Some reading comprehension skills include:

• Identifying the main idea
• Providing textual support
• Differentiating fact from opinion
• Identifying the author’s point of view
• Inferring information from a secondary source

World of Literacy contains a built-in vocabulary curriculum that can stand on its own or can be incorporated into other classroom activities.

A digital teacher’s edition is available separately and includes ideas for related classroom activities and interactive discussions.

A supplemental USB, containing links to online resources, is available separately.
