This game contains 20 pairs. Each pair includes one card with a question and one with the matching answer, both with the same illustration.

Half of the questions and answers are in the Past Simple form, with the other half in the Past Progressive (Continuous) form. Some of the questions and answers are in positive form, and some in the negative.

For example:
Did she play with her dog last Sunday?
Yes, she did. She played with him last Sunday.

Were they waiting when you came in?
Yes, they were waiting when we came in.

It can be played in various ways, depending on the size of the group and the objectives of the teacher. It can be mixed and compared with cards from “Asking Right 1: Present Simple and Present Progressive” and “Asking Right 3: To Be – Present and Past,” to demonstrate the contrast between the tenses.
