Itzik and Perla Lasker get married in the village of Serniki, Ukraine, during the years of the Communist Revolution. They join a youth movement and sail away in the “Katarina” in hopes of getting into British Palestine. But when they reach the shores of Eretz Yisrael they discover that the Britichhave quite a a different idea.
Unexpectedly, the Laskers end up in Thailand, then know as ‘Siam.’
This is Itzik and Perla’s exciting story of their adventurous journey from their hometown of Serniki to Siam, and of the start of a strange new life in the Orient.
