Basic Survival English – Macmillan Survival English
Basic Survival English is a practical book for people at a low level of English who need spoken English for work or travel. It contains 48 units which each focus on a different real-life situation related to business, socializing, travel, hotels, money, food and drink, or communications.
Most units begin with a number of written dialogues (also on the accompanying CD), as well as follow-up work based on those dialogues, additional listening practice, and speaking practice. At the back of the book, there are transcripts of all of the listening comprehension passages, a grammar file, and a culture file.
While this can be used for self-study, the speaking activities require two participants.
It is recommended for beginner to intermediate level students.
New Survival English, for intermediate to advanced level students, is also available.
